Adam Sandler Reveals His True Passion for Music at the ASCAP Experience 2026
Last Thursday, the ASCAP Experience ceremony of 2026 honored Adam Sandler, who surprisingly confessed that music has always been his greatest passion, not comedy, throughout his artistic journey. Sandler was bestowed the ASCAP Founders Award, an honor that has been given to icons such as Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, in recognition of his talent as a songwriter and performer. His musical performances, from 'Saturday Night Live' to movies like 'The Wedding Singer' and 'Billy Madison', were highlighted in a video before his ascent to the stage.
During the event, the actor shared memories from his childhood, revealing that he formed a band at the age of 12 and learned to play Beatles songs on the guitar, emphasizing that music has always been a source of joy for him. Sandler's daughters, Sadie and Sunny, have been following in their father's musical footsteps and have stood out both at home and in Netflix projects, such as in the movie 'You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah'.
Adam Sandler also reminisced about the days he played guitar in the subway stations of Manhattan to earn money while studying at NYU and taking his first steps in stand-up comedy. He recalled how performances in the subway were intimidating, but pointed out that 'We've Only Just Begun', a hit by the Carpenters co-written by Paul Williams, was a song that always changed the mood of the passengers, though he joked that perhaps people just didn't like the way he sang.
