Costume Designers Shine at the 2026 Costume Designers Guild Awards Ceremony
The awards season continues in full swing, and on Thursday, it was the Costume Designers Guild's turn to announce the winners in various categories spanning film, television, short-form costume design, and costume illustration. The 2026 Costume Designers Guild Awards ceremony, held at Los Angeles' Ebell, honored costume designers responsible for 'One Battle After Another', 'Frankenstein', and 'Wicked: For A Good Cause'. In television, the trophies went to 'The Studio', 'Palm Royale', and 'Andor'.
Actress Courtney Hope hosted the evening, which also paid special tribute with awards: Michelle Cole received the Career Achievement Award for her veteran work as a costume designer; James Cameron was honored with the Distinguished Collaborator Award; Kate Hudson with the Spotlight Award and Teyana Taylor with the Vanguard Spotlight Award.
Taylor expressed her love for building visuals "from scratch," combining references, blending eras and masculine and feminine energies, as well as high fashion with urban influences. For her, fashion is another form of direction that tells a story before even stepping on stage or in front of the camera. Hudson reminisced about her early moments in the film industry and praised collaboration, promising to be a great work partner. Cameron highlighted the importance of celebrating the art of design in an age dominated by artificial intelligence and emphasized that, unlike machines, artists create with passion.
Upon accepting the award for 'The Studio', Kameron Lennox paid homage to the recently deceased Catherine O'Hara by wearing some of the actress's jewelry. The evening also featured Bulgari as a strategic partner responsible for introducing a new edition of the Guild's iconic statuette, The Adrian. Celebrities like Tracee Ellis Ross, Paul Feig, and Janelle Monáe were present as presenters, adding even more sparkle to the event.
